Olivia Rogowska, an 18 year old tennis professional from Australia, managed to give World Number One Dinara Safina a powerful fright with winning the first set in the 1st round of the 2009 U.S. Open.

Although she won this 1st set 7-6 in a tie break, she could not take advantage on an early break, finally losing 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.

However, although Olivia Rogowska is currently "just" ranking 167th in the world, she managed to show that, especially in Grand Slam events, oftentimes the newcomers are able to draw the bigger performance once they need it.
